If you are a fan of Sailor Moon or a silly schoolgirl with a heart of gold called Usagi Tsukino, you are probably going to have a hard time choosing your favorite Pullip version of this beloved character. So far there have been four Pullip doll releases: Sailor Moon, Super Sailor Moon, Eternal Sailor Moon and Princess Serenity from 2015, who today’s review is all about. Even though I am a big Sailor Moon fan, collecting the various releases proved to be quite a difficult task for me, since most dolls come with little stock and higher prices. While I do intend to get Pullip Eternal Sailor Moon in the near future, Princess Serenity’s stock is so beautiful and her face up has such nice details that I could not get her out of my head and she ended up being the second addition from the Sailor Moon series after Sailor Neptune in my collection!
The reason, why I like Princess Serenity’s face up so much, are the warm tones of her make up with lots of yellow and peach. Her most unique feature is the yellow crescent moon in the middle of her forehead, which is very true to character, but also does not make her very versatile like the other Usagi dolls, who can easily be transformed into a normal girl. Her eyebrows are on the thinner side, pretty straight and a nice blond color. Her eye make up features a very heavy duty black eyeliner with three flicks on the upper lid and on the upper waterline. There is only a tiny bit of black eyeliner in the outer third of the lower lashline, while the rest is a subtle metallic white and on the lower waterline is a light shade of peach. Serenity only has four drawn-on lashes on her lower lid, which are dark brown and are exactly the same color her crease is accentuated in. The inner corners up to her crease also have a pearly metallic white sheen and her eyeshadow is mainly the lightest pinky peach with a small patch of light yellow right under the beginning of her eyebrows.
As anime-like as her stylized eyeliner, are her translucent indigo eyechips, which sparkle, when the light hits them. The white details on them are supposed to imitate the reflection of light and are very common for Groove Inc.’s anime collaborations.
On Princess Serenity’s eyelids she is wearing a light pinky peach with black liner. The same pinky peach is used to contour the sides of her nose, which makes it appear slimmer than my other Pullip dolls and also as blush under her cheek bones. Her lips are the cutest. She is only wearing the tiniest bit of clear lip gloss on her upper lid, while she used more pink peachy gloss on her lower lip. Her whole face up does make her look indeed worthy of the name Serenity!
Iconic are Usagi Tsukino’s dango or hair buns, which could not have been an easy task to translate into a doll’s wig. Luckily Groove did an amazing job and I am so pleased with how the wig looks. It is golden yellow and sectioned into two pony tails with the already mentioned hair buns on top. The pony tails are (Pullip) floor length and curl at the end. As much as I like the wig, it is not flawless. The wig cap in the very middle between her bangs is pretty much showing all the way up to the crown of her head and her hair buns have quite some fly-aways sticking into every direction. Her bangs in the front are long, parted in the middle and swept to the side. Right above her ears she has two ringlets and she is wearing simple pearl stud earrings. Her right earring is a little loose, but is not in danger of falling off soon. In the back Serenity has shorter hair to cover up her eye mechanism a little bit including two additional ringlets.
When you purchase Princess Serenity, you will get three hair pins, which you have to put into her wig yourself. We are talking about two identical hair pins with three pearls each and a pin with a white fabric rose. I was looking at her stock pictures to find the right spots for them and put the pin with the white rose into her left hair bun. The pearly pins belong to the left and right next to the crown of her head above her bangs.
The star of her stock is undoubtedly her long flowing gown in angelic white. It has so much volume and looks, as if she is floating. While the skirt of her robe screams elegant simplicity, you will find some beautiful details on its cotton top part like golden threads, white ribbon, white pearls, cream colored ribbon, white lace, silver beads and smaller white pearls. The rose shaped sleeves with white lace are actually not attached to the dress. Each sleeve has a rose in the back and in the front, which are out of the same cotton material as the top of the dress. To help the dress stay on, there are two translucent shoulder straps, which have a pretty tight fit. The voluminous skirt is out of the softest white tulle with a huge bow in the back. I love this bow so much, words are not enough for it! It just adds so much to this look! Under this layer of tulle, there is only one white underskirt with lots of floral embroidery above the hemline. You can see her legs through the dress, but there is enough fabric on top to prevent indecency. The dress closes in the back with velcro.
Princess Serenity’s right hand is not your typical relaxed Pullip stock hand, but has a very expressive gesture I have until now only seen from Pullips that come with a certain kind of stick to hold. This is, where it gets mysterious: Serenity comes without any accessories to hold. Still, it looks super elegant and even prettier with her ember colored armband out of tiny beads.
On her feet our princess is wearing high heels, which we have seen on numerous dolls before. Pullip The Rose comes immediately in my mind and I know for sure that there are more Pullips with shoes in this style. Their color is a shiny metallic cream and they are too big for her feet. I think that they are fine and all in all they do not play a big role in her look, since they are normally fully covered by her dress.
What are your thoughts on Pullip Princess Serenity and would you consider adding her to your collection? And who is your favorite Sailor Scout? As a big Sailor Moon fan I could talk about it for hours! ๐
Thank you so much for reading!

I think Princess Serenity has my favorite Pullip dress! It’s so dreamy… she is stunning!
The dress is so lovely made and designed! It is practically the total opposite from their pleather sailor suits, which I am not completely happy with. Serenity is practically floating around in her dress and feeling pretty, which she should! ๐
