Welcome back, everybody to another ‘My Dolly Week’ post! Life is a bit hectic at the moment, but I have super exciting news to share with you all: I am going to go back to Japan this year for three weeks in December! I cannot even express, how excited I am to experience my second Tokyo Disney Resort Christmas and to go to some dreamy places for the first time ever. I will write a Japan 2018 wishlist a little later on, but it will probably be similar to last year’s with lots of dolly related swag. Right now is also the perfect time to start to keep an eye out for announcements of pop up cafés, stores and shows. I am not-so-secretly always hoping for Sailor Moon events! Unfortunately, the Yokohama Pullip exhibition will be long gone at that point, but last week, we got some more details about Pullip’s anniversary release Etoile in lieu with some more detailed pictures, so let’s go!
A few days ago I finally cleaned up my two ‘My Little Pony’ siblings from my childhood. I used a magic sponge to scrub them clean and I am contemplating, if there is a way to fix their manes. At the same time, I feel like I have to be super gentle with them because, despite their young appearance, they have been going through quite a lot, when I was playing with them! It is also nice to see that they have the perfect size to qualify as toys for Pullips, which is why I am restraining myself to get deeper into the vintage ‘My Little Pony’ fandom! Especially since the newly released ponies in their vintage designs are not available in my country and only God knows, if they will ever be! For now, Ruri and Mayu are happily playing with them – and are always reminding me that I am already collecting enough. XD Those two are taking very good care of me! (Here’s a secret: I might still get some of these ponies! >< )
Etoile, French for ‘star’, is Pullip’s 15th Anniversary doll release! So far, we have only had seen pictures of her face and in combination with the ongoing illustration contest, whose winner will also be awarded with Pullip Etoile! Now Pullip Etoile’s complete promotional images have been released with the vital information that she will not only be available for visitors of the Yokohama Doll Museum, but actually will be a regular Pullip release for June!
I personally think that Pullip Etoile’s expression is my most favourite thing about her! There is something very nostalgic and sentimental in her gaze, her face alone reminds me of a star that is glimmering in the night sky! I just wish that she would not have those rhinestones directly glued under her eyes. It takes away from her versatility, especially if you enjoy more casual dolly clothes. I am also not completely sold on her dress. I love the big, heavy duty look with her dramatic coat, but the mermaid dress with the transparent puffy sleeves is absolutely not up my alley. As always, I will be looking forward to actual display pictures and make up my mind then!
Shortly after writing about Pullip Kayano, Groove started to display her and now we know that her face is as pretty as we had already expected from her promotional pictures! I am highly, highly tempted! These lips are luring me in and wouldn’t she just be too cute next to Pullip Prunella?! They could be sisters…just saying!
If you are interested to read the story behind upcoming anniversary Neo-Blythe ‘Unicorn Maiden’, you can click here to read the interview with Junko Wong. There is only one illustration thus far, but isn’t it kind of amazing that there will be a unicorn Blythe release so soon after a mermaid?! Junie Moon seems to be on a fairytale streak, which I love!
What are your thoughts about Pullip Etoile? Are you happy that she is the one representing Pullip’s 15th birthday? Are you as pleased with Pullip Kayano’s face as I am?
Thank you so much for reading!

Ah, My Little Ponies! I happen to have a collection of ca. 80 ponies but for some reason I never had the idea to pose them with my dolls. They look very sweet together! I hope you can find a way to satisfy your curiosity, without venturing too deep and ending up collecting more than you “should”… 😉
I very much agree with you when it comes to Etoile. Her face is lovely, but the rhinestones put me off completely. I’m not a fan of the stock either. That’s normally no problem, but the rhinestones limit a lot how you can redress her… I can’t help it, I’m just all about lace, layers and natural fabrics, and so, Etoile’s dress is too far away from my taste. But every Pullip is potentially interesting, and it’s always fun to admire owner pictures. Any Pullip can be pretty to look at and bring some joy- without the need to actually own the doll!
Wow, 80 ponies?! That sounds sooo heavenly! The more I actually look at ponies, the more I have to talk myself out of them…they are just all way too adorable! Your Pullips will be super happy, once you introduce them to each other! >< You are so right about enjoying pictures of Pullip without having to actually own the doll! There are so many releases that I enjoy looking at, but for various reasons are very unlikely to be added to my collection. And Etoile's rhinestone: I just wish, she came without it! Just like you, I honestly would not know how to redress her - she feels more like a display doll to me and is just not enough up my alley for that; I rather wait for the winner of the custom contest! 😉
this is LATE but I’m just getting into Pullip and am skimming your blog… you can use hair conditioner in their manes and tails! use a comb to get out all the tangles while the conditioner is still wet, then rinse. curl the mane around their neck and tail around a back leg and let air dry overnight. their hair actually looks in very decent shape, just needs some TLC. PS your dolls are GORGEOUS 🙂
Hello Toylockette! 🙂
Thank you so much for your comment, you wrote me just in time: I just got a comb for my ponies a few days ago and want to get to work asap. I am also super glad that you think that their hair still looks in good condition! 😀
Thank you so much for liking my dollies; I hope to see you again on Komonogatari! 😉
All the best, Theri
