Before we start, let’s welcome Carlie, my Pullip Bloody Red Hood, who will be our model for today! The whole outfit compliments her wig, eyechips and face-up so nicely. I higly recomment to check it out for your BRH!
This Outfit Selection-set was officially released by Groove Inc. in 2016. You could either buy it separately on its own or in a set with a My Select Pullip Merl, who only comes wrapped in a pink towel and no other original stock. I only got the Little Lenie set because I might want to get Merl with her amazing original stock in the future.
For me the biggest selling point of this set was the fact that you get a beautiful coordinated set including the dress, a headband, socks and shoes. Doll shoes are always a big plus for me because it is expensive to buy them on their own. My dolls always seem to run out of matching shoes, when I get them new outfits. 😉
The main fabric is a silky mix out of dark wine red and almost black purple with a print of skulls, white thunderbolts and butterflies in violet, orange and yellow on it. Even though it is called Antique Skull Dress, I would not say that its gothic motive is completely obvious or overpowering. It is a nice and interesting combination of a classic, elegant and sweet style with a subtle edgy twist! What definitely adds to its classical looking factor are the puffy short sleeves and the a-line shaped skirt, which has white cotton lace at the very end. Hanging right above the left waistline, there is a small brassy scissors shaped pendant. Normally, there should be a white rose out of plastic in its middle, but mine was damaged during transport. I was thinking about finding a replacement, but in the end I kind of prefer this look more because I do not want a flashy white detail ruining the overall mysterious mood of the outstandingly beautiful fabric! The dress closes in the back with velcro.
The style of the headband is pretty simple with a big bow on top. The main fabric of the bow is out of the silky dress material and it has the white cottony lace going all around. For a little bit of sparkle, there is golden ribbon in its middle. The headband is prone to slide off your doll’s head and I like to tilt it a little bit because otherwise the bow won’t directly sit on top of the wig, but a few centimeters above. From trying it on most of my Pullips, I also prefer it on wigs with bangs!
The final accessorries are a pair out of super cute white frilly socks, which are very well made and their style is just lovely, and a pair out of dark reddish brown plastic Mary Janes. Their color coordinates so well with the whole set! We have already seen this shoe mould several times from Groove and they are almost always a little big-even with socks on. I always have to be careful not to lose them; be warned!
What are your thoughts on Groove’s Outfit Selection releases? I know that the Antique Skull Dress was the first release in a while, but I hope that we might see more releases in the future!
Thank you so much for reading!

I love this outfit! I wish groove would sell more outfits – I love it when they have all the accessories.
And it’s a perfect look for Carlie! I love the way you always find the right outfit for each doll!
Me too! Isn’t it kind of tricky to get the accessories right without some colors being off?! I can always feel my girls kind of judging me! 😉
Thank you! You are so sweet! 😀
