My Ruri by Poison Girl’s Dolls is home!

Ruri from Poison GirlToday everything fell in place: I had a day off and my first ever custom Pullip arrived: Ruri from Poison Girl! 😀 I am so over the moon, I cannot believe it! Everything about her is absolutely darling and she has not left my side since she has arrived.

Ruri by Poison GirlNot only is she beautiful on her own, but she also fits so nicely into my collection! I was hoping to find the perfect girl with a pink theme and well, María is simply the best. I am also extremely happy that the clothes she chose for Ruri have a pink and white theme. Since I am a newbie to customs and customizing, all my stock dolls still have their stock bodies. Ruri has an obitsu because I love the way you can pose them. It is a whole new world for me! I am not in constant fear of breaking her body, when I simply want to sit her down (no noises from the hip area, thank God). Also, I need to get her different sets of hands, so she will be even more expressive!

Ruri's EyelidsRuri’s eyechips are a beautiful realistic looking blue and her lids are polka dotted cuteness with super long lashes! Her brows are one of Poison Girl’s signature looks and give her this über cute expression. I want to hug her all of the time! The face-up in general is so precise and melts into her fair skin tone like a dream. Her blushing reminds me a lot of a certain Japanese make-up style, where you apply blusher directly under your eyes and stop right at the apples of the cheeks. It is so beautiful with the tiniest freckles. The blushing is continued on her nose with more freckles and the carving of her nose is darling. And who can resist those big pouty reddish pink lips?! I can’t! Again, such precise work of a true artist!

Ruri by Poison GirlI am really looking forward to taking lots and lots of pictures since she is so photogenic! Of course I also got ahead of myself and ordered Ruri two different sets of outfits and a pair of super cute shoes. I cannot wait to share them all with you and I have lots of fun stuff planned. A little hint: When I first saw María’s pictures, she reminded me of a little pink mushroom and by chance there was basically the most perfect outfit on Etsy. 😉 I will link to Marías pictures, when she releases them on her website (they are so good!). Now Ruri and I are going to play some more for a while!

Thank you so much for reading! What are your favorite things about custom dolls?

Review: Pullip Le Petit Prince The Fox

Pullip The Fox is one of two Pullips that were released as part of the Le Petit Prince series, which also included an Isul as The Little Prince himself. Last week I reviewed The Rose and this week’s review features the incredibly cute Fox, who will hopefully melt your heart just like mine. In the story of Le Petit Prince the chapter with The Fox is the most famous and contains the tale’s most quoted lines.

Pullip The Fox on Ninetails
Woohooo! Just imagine: She has found her favorite and perfect ride! Her interests match mine…

The quote says, ‘It is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.’

Like the rest of the series, The Fox was released in early 2016 and was rarely distributed to foreign sellers. She is still however available in Japan, where the dolls are supposed to have been a regular release. Isul The Little Prince is the only sold out doll at the moment. All dolls were a collaboration with Japanese lolita clothing brand Alice and the Pirates. By the time of release, you could also buy the same outfit in their stores to match your doll’s. Review: Pullip Le Petit Prince The Rose

Pullip The Rose from the Le Petit Prince series is a release that came out early last year in collaboration with lolita fashion label Alice and the Pirates. There is also an Isul as The Little Prince and Pullip The Fox released from this series. The Fox will get her own review in the upcoming week. I absolutely love those two Pullips and this is also the reason, why I wanted to have them in my header picture. Only a limited stock of those dolls was on sale overseas, but since The Rose and The Fox are still readily available on Mandarake it seems to be true that they were a regular release in Japan (I also tried to look for Isul, but he is sold out). Le Petit Prince is a famous tale from French writer and adventurer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. I have already encountered it twice in my life. The first time in elementary school, when my teacher lent me the story on cassette tape and the second time in high school, when we had to read it in French class. Of course those dolls were at the peak of my interest, when I learned of their existence. It is widely believed that the Rose in de Saint-Exupéry’s story is inspired from his wife and muse Consuelo, who he had a turbulent relationship with. Lots of love, betrayal, disappointment and passion!

Why I love Pullips and you might too!

It should be no secret anymore that I love Pullip dolls. I love collecting, styling and taking pictures of them. I love to read about other people’s collections online and do research on past and future releases. There are so many reasons, why I love Pullips and I wanted to write an introductory post about my interest, since I have not done that until now. Please enjoy my reasons for loving Pullips and let me know, if you agree or disagree with me in the comments!

Pullip Optical Alice holding 'Why?'1. Pullips mean staying true to myself!

Dolls have always been one of my favorite things. My interest in Barbie dolls never vanished completely, even though they were stored away in my parents’ basement. I still did my research on Collector Barbies from time to time, but never had the courage to spend my allowance on them. When I moved out and discovered the first series of Monster High dolls a few years later, I was so happy to finally collect dolls. Still, after some time the themes kind of got repetetive, I was (and still am) content with the collection I have and I wanted something that felt of higher quality. My first Pullip encounter was on the Japanese Amazon site, while I was browsing toys. It was Pullip Classical Alice that looked so pretty in the thumbnail that she immediately wandered on-to my wishlist. She stayed there for many years because I could not justify spending so much on a doll, not being sure, if I would stick to the hobby, since I had already given up on Barbie and Monster High dolls. In 2014 Groove Inc. started their collaboration with Sailor Moon and so they never fell off my radar. Last year I decided to finally be true to myself in every aspect of my life. Yes, I love to collect things that are probably out of the norm for most people my age in my culture, but I don’t care anymore. My first Pullip was Alice du Jardin Mint Ver. and I could not have been happier. Since then I have embraced honestly liking, what I feel is fun and beautiful! Review: Pullip Creator’s Label Seila

Pullip Seila was one of those dolls that I thought I would never own. She has been sold-out for quite some time as of this writing and there are still a ton of collectors, who are looking for her, out there. Nearly two months ago I was refreshing Mandarake and Seila suddenly showed up at the very top of the Pullip listings. I clicked that order button in a complete daze and was fast enough to get her. She was a major find for me and I am still not over the endorphins from this particular Saturday!

Pullip Seila was released in 2012 and embodies the perfect vision of a gothic lolita!
Pullip Seila was released in 2012 and embodies the perfect vision of a gothic lolita!

Seila was originally released in 2012 as part of Groove Inc.’s Creator’s Label. Her face up was created by mitsubachi@BabyBee, who has worked a lot with Groove since then (I already reviewed Pullip My Melody HEN-NAKO Ver. and Pullip Galene) and HIROKO/Daisy-D was the mastermind behind her clothes. For me Seila is the perfect gothic lolita from head to toe. Everything about her is of such high quality that there is no reason to question anymore, why this doll is so widely loved in the Pullip community. My most trusted places to buy Pullips from!

Today I want to share, where I buy Pullips, since it is not that easy, when you first get into the hobby. Please note that I am living in Europe, that’s why my go-to online shops are also based there. When ordering, you should always be aware of shipping and eventual custom costs. Happy shopping and thank you for reading!

Review: Pullip Sailor Neptune

Who says that Luna cushions never come in handy?! Sailor Neptune is a 2015 release!
Who says that Luna cushions never come in handy?! Sailor Neptune is a 2015 release!

Sailor Neptune or Michiru Kaiou in her civilian form is my favorite character in the Sailor Moon universe because she is the embodiment of intellect and elegance. She is a quite serious character and tragic heroine. She is basically the total opposite of Usagi Tsukino, who is my other number one girl (it’s a tie, you see), who is clumsy and has a very welcoming personality. Pullip Princess Serenity is on her way (she is supposed to arrive tomorrow), but today it is Pullip Sailor Neptune’s turn. I have had her for several months now and it has not always been easy. In general you always have to pay more for collaboration and Creator’s Label dolls because there are more people involved. What this means at the same time for the collector, is that you kind of expect a premium product and this is, where some people got put off from the Sailor Moon releases. The most criticism was earned for sailor suits that are made out of pleather and also the dolls’ face-up are pretty minimal, which did not let collectors justify the price tag. My decision was to take it my time with the Sailor Moon series and start with Sailor Neptune to build my own opinion. She is beautiful and I love having her in my collection! Pullip Alice du Jardin Mint is a release from 2012 and one of the most popular!

The mint version of Pullip Alice du Jardin (the pink Alice du Jardin is the original) is a 2012 release and extremely popular among collectors, which is probably the reason why Groove Inc. is still producing both versions as of this writing. She was my first Pullip and holds a very special place in my heart. I even cried, when she arrived because I was so happy to finally own a Pullip! Pullip Chloi is, like her twin Clara, a Doll Carnival 2010 limited release. There are only 600 of her!

Last week I wrote about Groove’s 2010 limited Pullip release Clara and today it is time for her twin sister Chloi. Like Clara, Chloi also had the limited number of 600 pieces and was a special Doll Carnival Pullip. I bought both twins from Mandarake Japan, where rare dolls tend to show up once in a while. Pullip Clara is a limited Pullip that was released in 2010. Only 600 Pullip Clara were made!

Pullip Clara is a release from 2010 and a very limited at that. She was especially made for the Doll Carnival as part of a duo with Pullip Chloi, her twin sister. Only 600 dolls of Clara and Chloi were sold each. I was able to acquire the lovely sisters through Mandarake and will post a review on Pullip Chloi next week. Today let’s focus on the pink twin!
