Finding particular Sailor Moon merchandise in Japan can unfortunately not be as easy as you might think. Or you might happen to find exactly, what you wanted, but then the prize is double or triple the amount of its initial value. Many items were only manufactured according to the amount of pre-orders. After missing out on pre-ordering it, attaining products can become a nightmare, as it is often the case with Sailor Moon products by Bandai. This is exactly the reason, why I often prefer to buy my Sailor Moon goodies over the internet because sometimes even Ebay can be less of a struggle than trying to find a grail product in person! On the contrary, you can have lots of fun by having an open mind and looking at merchandise, which you might otherwise would not have thought about appreciating. These are all of the pretties I have obtained last September: Continue reading My Sailor Moon Goodies from Japan / Part 1
My Dolly Week #54: Clear Lan & A Wedding Usagi!
It is ‘Dolly Week’ time! I hope that March welcomed you all warmly and that everybody is doing well! Last week I tested out a wonderful clothing brand for all kinds of dollies and we got some pretty surprising news from Groove Inc., regarding two new June releases. Let’s start!
The clothing brand I was just writing about and I completely fell in love with, is ‘Clear Lan‘. It is based in Singapore and offers to make clothes fitting for various dolls and body types. After ordering, you enter a waiting period and its length depends on how many orders came in before yours. I only had to wait for two weeks, before I got the shipping confirmation. But honestly, I would not have minded waiting longer for something that truly fits my obitsu girls! In the picture above, Mayu is wearing two tops from Clear Lan: A long sleeved tight fitting beige turtleneck sweater out of thin cotton and a dark red coloured strappy top on top of it. I just love that their clothes are inspired by contemporary Asian fashion, especially this combination feels like something you could encounter on Korean streets! Mayu likes to combine her lovely tops with a asymmetrical skirt by Jiajiadoll and crimson tights. Doesn’t she look ready for dance lessons?! How To Revive Old Barbie Hair!
Have you ever heard or even watched something, which you did not quite believe, but still had to try out?! This happened to me last Sunday, when I rediscovered my favourite childhood Barbie dolls. They had been stored in a box for more than ten years and their hair was far from fresh looking. More like old, frizzy and well played with. This was, when my friend asked me, if I would give them a spa with fabric softener and boiling water. Doesn’t it sound brutal to boil your dolls’ hair? Don’t be fooled, only people that truly care would walk the distance! Blythe fans have known this method for years and it is also a popular technique to straighten frizzy synthetic wigs (which I will try next). Another plus is that your dolls will smell super nice and fresh in the end. So fresh and so clean! Continue reading How To Revive Old Barbie Hair!
Oposket: Aurora/Briar Rose (Version A)
Here we go again with more Qposket cuties! As a fan of ‘Sleeping Beauty’, I was excited to see that there was going to be a release of Princess Aurora, while she was still living under the name of Briar Rose, which was given to her by the three fairies to protect her from Maleficent. (It worked out for a while…) Her figure is brand new and no recoloured release, which traditionally means that next to her version, there also is a version b with a pale pastel colouring. This is a common release strategy, when it comes to Japanese figures, but I personally have to say that I always prefer my figures to have bright colours! My Dolly Week #53: Nostalgia!
Welcome to another Sunday post! I hope, you are doing well! Temperatures in Central Europe are so cold right now, which leaves you with more time to stay inside and play with your dollies. Even though we are playing inside, my dollies’ wardrobe is constantly updated with more winter gear. Probably because dolls are simply the cutest, when wearing layers, scarves and coats! Sencha being the newest arrival, got spoiled a few days ago with this lovely camel coloured cape from Ringo No Matsuri, which even comes with it’s own white fluffy collar. Miss Sencha is staying warm this winter!
My (Updated) Blogiversary Dolly Wishlist!
I am so excited for this post and have so much to update, since I have decided to only share my dolly wishlist every six months! This way, it is way easier for me to evaluate, which girls I actually want to move in with me (after the first phase of infatuation) and to keep track with the overall number of my cuties. This is also the first post, where I am going to talk about different types of dolls I really like and about my current collection, for example about which changes some girls might go through in the future. Let’s start! Continue reading My (Updated) Blogiversary Dolly Wishlist!
It’s Been A Year: Komonogatari’s First Blogiversary!
Exactly one year ago, my review of Pullip Optical Alice, who I got one day prior brand new from Japan, went online. She was the perfect reason to finally create a blog, an idea, which had been dancing in my head for months and went in lieu with dozens hours of brainstorming because I did not want to start under a blog name or social media handles, which I would have want to change after a short while. And there was one more thing: I was scared! Scared of my own writing and photographing skills and even more scared of not finding anybody to share my passions with! Today I consider February 23rd, 2017 as one of the best days of my life because it was the start of me, putting myself out there. I am a strong believer that the more open I am about my passions and feelings here, the more I hope to deliver the message that it is okay to be passionate about the things you are passionate about!

My Dolly Week #52: Doggies and some Matcha!
Happy Sunday and happy Lunar New Year to everybody who is celebrating! Since everybody has safely arrived in the ‘Year of the Dog’ now, Ruri could not let the chance drop to dress up like a cute little puppy! She is wearing a hat, which arrived last week and was a little rainbow in a pretty bad week (especially last Wednesday, ugh!). It is my second helmet by Dr. Rabbitland on Etsy and again, I am completely smitten with the look and quality. Her hats are originally designed for Blythes, but I like how they look on my Pullips! The puppy hat has such a lovely pastel lilac colour and plushy pink ears. It is so, so cute and really suits Ruri’s pink wig! Ruri is also wearing an ensemble by Atelier Milabrocc consisting out of a pastel lilac knit sweater and a pleated skirt with suspenders. What a doll! Crystalux Disney Characters #1: Alice in Wonderland
Today is a very exciting post, since I am finally writing about a new Disney figure series available in Japanese arcades: Crystalux! They kicked off with Alice from ‘Alice in Wonderland’ and will continue with Snow White, who I will be showing you as well in the spring! The idea behind the Crystalux figures is that they have kind of clear reflective chips in front of their eyes, which sets them apart from your usual painted on eyes on figures. For doll collectors ‘eyechips’ are not a new concept at all, but I have to say that I am quite intrigued by the idea of incorporating it into figures, which additionally do not break the bank as well!
What made me the most excited about the Crystalux releases (the two that have been released/announced so far), is the appearance of the Disney girls and that they are portrayed in their actual movie look. It is super refreshing to have this range of Disney figures next to Chibi versions like Qposket. Alice is captured in the secene at the very beginning of the movie, while she is actually talking to her cat Dinah. Honestly, I need a tiny Dinah to accompany her! Alice is (theoretically) sitting on a meadow and made a wreath out of daisies, which she is still holding in her hands. Continue reading Crystalux Disney Characters #1: Alice in Wonderland
My Dolly Week #51: Steady, steady…
Welcome to another Sunday post on Komonogatari! Have you had a nice week? Mine has been a quite turbulent up and down in my personal life, being beyond boring for hours and suddenly pretty stressful with lots of heart racing. That is why I actually called this post ‘Steady, steady…’ because I definitely need a bit less excitement next week, since the last seven days were too much! >< It also refers to the fact that there are so many doll reviews to write and pictures to take, which can feel overwhelming sometimes. Especially when there is no time due to work or the sun hiding from me on my days off. Still, I will catch up with my posts and will try my best to take cute pictures! Ganbatte!
