Pullip Sencha was a wonderful way to start the new year and is my first Pullip addition of 2018. She was created by extremely talented Nina from Nina’s Dolls, who has her own distinctive style, which I have been admiring for a while, when looking at her dolls owned by lucky fellow collectors. She does not take commissions at the moment, but I highly recommend a visit to her Facebook page or Instagram to keep an eye out for future customs and to admire all of her many different creations!
Pokémon Center Plush: Pikachu’s Sweet Treats Pair Plush
It has been quite a long time, since there was a Pokémon post published on Komonogatari, but as my collection is growing, I have to choose wisely. Especially, when it comes to Pikachu. I might do a plush collection one day, but it will probably take ages to do. When comparing pictures with past Pikachu pair plushes, it is easy to see how this new pair, released right before Valentine’s Day, is different to past designs and why I (spoiler!) highly recommend it to be added to your collection as well or, if you aren’t into Pokémon plush yet, to start your collection in general! Even the artwork on the tag is uber adorable! Continue reading Pokémon Center Plush: Pikachu’s Sweet Treats Pair Plush
50 ‘My Dolly Weeks’!!! Let’s Celebrate!
Welcome to the 50th Sunday post; it’s so nice to see you again! 🙂 Very fitting for the occasion, we have tons of doll news and I honestly could not imagine a better start into February! Last week had some really lovely and springy days, which inspired me to take this picture of my Spring Goddess Sencha. Her headdress was also made by It’s MY Caprice and I love how it matches her dress. Let’s hope that Sencha will bring us an early spring this year!
First of all: Last Sunday after publishing last week’s post, I went on Pullip Style only to find out that Pullip Cinnamoroll and Pullip Himawari‘s pre-orders had opened! After a short state of shock, both jumped into my shopping cart! They are supposed to be in stock at the end of April, which probably means that they will be home at the beginning of May. The wait will feel endless, but everybody knows that patience is key in this hobby. It feels really weird to have a Pullip on pre-order; my last one was Pullip Lupinus about one year ago. I am honestly having trouble to hide my excitement; there are so many things I love about both of them: Especially Cinnamoroll’s eyechips, her plushy, obviously, and Himawari’s orange toned make-up including her smiley expression! Redecorating For Dolls: Miniature Luxury!
That’s right, I have taken another step towards my dream dollhouse, which we still don’t have enough space for! In the meantime, it cannot hurt to collect some very super special pieces for the future! It all started with Kathia’s picture on Instagram and immediate admiration for sssDollFurniture‘s doll sized furniture creations. They are totally fit for princesses, being made with so much craftsmanship and love for detail. When I opened my mail the other day, I could not believe my eyes to see something that was even prettier in real life than in the pictures on Etsy!
Re-ment: Sumikko Gurashi ‘Sumikko Patisserie’
Oops, I did it again: I got a Re-ment set, got lost in the miniature world for Pullips, Pullips…I am sorry, but it had to get out someday that I was a big Britney fan growing up and that I am still singing this song everytime I get something, I really like! 😀 Sumikko Gurashi are my favourite characters for so-called ‘character goods’ from Japan because they are simply too cute. If you are not familiar with the characters and their names yet, don’t worry: I emphasized them in the text, so you won’t get confused in the Sumikko universe too much. I hope, you will enjoy this post full of sweets with sweet faces on them! Continue reading Re-ment: Sumikko Gurashi ‘Sumikko Patisserie’
My Dolly Week #49: Introducing Sencha!
Welcome to the last Dolly Week post of January 2018! When looking at January so far, it feels like so many dolly related things happened that one month feels way too short. >< I also have lots of content for my Tuesday posts lined up, which means lots of cute things in the future! Yaaay! 🙂
The first girl to join my doll family in 2018 is Sencha, a girl whose beautiful face-up was done by Nina’s Dolls. I feel so lucky to have her because I love how Nina gives her Pullips tear ducts and her carving work on the nose, lips and philtrum. It is a very ethereal look. I don’t want to talk too much about Sencha now, since I still want to continue to give every girl her own post in 2018, but she definitely has a goddess of spring vibe. I am so excited! Review: Pullip Dilettante (2014)
Pullip Dilettante was one of the first Pullips that I discovered online and instantly loved. There is something about this girl, released in early 2014, which left me fascinated. Her concept is being a hard-working business girl in the big city, therefore her stock is quite unusual for a Pullip, being extremely chic business attire. I love otherworldly concepts, but sometimes it’s nice to have a selection of clothes that are more realistic in an adults day to day life, while still being super fancy. In her official description it does not say, how much her name ‘Dilettante’ actually refers to her character, but the way this girl is wearing her make-up and is dressing up, doesn’t scream dilettante to me! 😉
Funko Pop! Sailor Neptune
Funko Pop!’s vinyl figures rose to so much fame in the last few years that I am pretty sure that no introduction to them is necessary, since they are so good in fulfilling everybody’s pop culturall needs. I got my first figure, Princess Amidala, in Saint-Denis in 2013, when visiting the Star Wars Identities exhibition and was magically able to resist their other dozens and dozens of figures – until now! Toei Animation teamed up with Funko! to bring us the beloved characters from Sailor Moon; first the inner and now even the outer senshi. And of course I had to get my favourite Sailor Neptune first! My Dolly Week #48: Pullip Rides!
A fresh Sunday, a fresh Dolly Week! This week allowed me to finally get back into taking pictures and to work more on my blog. Plus my 2017 review finally went up, which was a surprisingly difficult post to write. Probably because it’s hard to put a whole year in a nutshell and not to go too much into detail. That being said, 2018 has been a quite ambivalent ride so far. For 21 days a lot of strange and unpleasant things have happened in lieu with me getting over them, which marks this time as very important for my personal growth. And at the end of the day, I still can come back to my dolls and Komonogatari to enjoy the lightness of being!
In my childhood I was a big Barbie fan and my collection in my parents’ house counts about 30 Barbie and Barbie family dolls. Barbie accessories for Pullips can be (as I had to bitterly learn) a hit and miss, but a clear hit is Minnie’s pink and yellow vespa, which has the perfect size! This week I managed only to do a portrait shot, since Minnie was always in danger of eating the floor, even though I had bought some fishing line and wire. Your girl simply does not know how to properly use them yet to at least visually defy gravity. There are so many adventures I want Minnie to go on, so I will work harder! Komonogatari’s 2017 Review!
I always feel weird, when there is no proper review before or right after a new year begins. This blog will turn one year old at the end of February, which marks 2017 as its most important year, since starting new things is always the biggest step to take. Many wonderful things happened this year and I am happy to share them with you!
One year ago I did not have any clue about customizing my Pullips. Changing eyechips was a terrifying thought and I did not get the appeal of re-wigging, even though I detected some quality issues with certain stock wigs. I did however start to change them out of their stock clothes, mainly because I wanted my Pullip Sailor Neptune not to be battle ready all of the time and to be able to relax with the other girls. (Imagine all of your dolls wearing long lolita-type dresses and then there is Sailor Neptune right next to them in a mini skirt and bare legs.) As soon as I had discovered Etsy, a new world opened up with that many creators of doll clothes and accessories around the world, there are truly limitless possibilities to get creative!
