My Dolly Week #20: Custom Week!
Welcome to the 20th ‘My Dolly Week’! I don’t think that I ever had such an intense dolly week like the last seven days! I had so much fun and learned a lot! 😀 There were also some announcements from Groove about future collaborations and I found a nice way to pre-order this autumn’s Pullips without having to pay for them in advance!
It was finally time for Ruri’s fashion post, since I had to wait for some things to arrive and I had a lot of fun to make a faux-diorama for her. One of my favorite pictures, I especially saved for today, is this photo above, in which she looks super proud of her Shinzi Katoh Toy Story poster (which is actually a post card). It is my dream to create more with my own hands and one day make a real diorama for my cuties!
Ruri’s Poison Girl’s Dolls sister Mayu arrived on Friday and she is the sweetest. I hope, I am not the only collector out there, who sometimes just relaxes by simply admiring her dolls with an absent-minded grin on her face! When I look at them, I feel like I am in a dream. 😉 I am in the middle of planning Mayu’s solo fashion shoot and a joint one with Ruri! Continue reading My Dolly Week #20: Custom Week!
My Dolly Week #17: Blanche arrived, Pullip Eternal Sailor Moon & Pullip characters!
Welcome to another Dolly Week on Komonogatari! 😀 This week I have been away for a few days, but that did not stop me from getting some quality time with my dollies and there were some amazing announcements this week, which I am tremendously looking forward to!
First of all, Pullip Blanche arrived this week. I was pretty lucky to get her brand new in great condition, even though she is on a type 3-body, which are prone to be quite fragile and easy to crack especially at the wrists. Two stones fell out of her beautiful earrings, but they were securely sliding around in her box and it won’t be a hard task to glue them back in. Blanche, who I renamed Orphelia, is a stunning release. I cannot help feeling extremely lucky that she joined my family. I already love her so much! When I realised that her outfit had a lot in common with Pullip Princess Serenity, I had to make a picture of my cuties, put it on Instagram and I was quite happy and proud that it started trending under #pullip and made it to second place. I did not write on Instagram about it, but please note that I am very thankful for every support and love to share dolly love!
Actually, the more time I am spending with my dolls, the more they are getting their own characters and backstories. One day I wanted to change up Carlie’s hair and as it turns out, she is the type of girl that looks amazing in two braids. She can even wear this knitted beanie (from KukiDolls) in summer and looks amazing. I never until now knew that Carlie is an artist, who loves to paint, play guitar and play with kitties. We definitely got to know each other better this week! Continue reading My Dolly Week #17: Blanche arrived, Pullip Eternal Sailor Moon & Pullip characters!
Review: Pullip Premium Kiyomi Mint Ice Cream Ver.
Everybody that knows a little bit about Groove Inc.’s Pullip release history, knows how much Groove loves to bring out recolored versions of their dolls. In early 2016 Pullip Kiyomi Mint Ice Cream Ver. was released, a recolored version of the original 2012 Kiyomi from the Beary Fairy series. Next to being a recolored version of an older release, which had been long sold out, Groove also called Mint Ice Cream Kiyomi part of a new Pullip Premium series. Until now there have been two more Pullip Premium releases, both recolored versions, Romantic Alice Monochrome and Veritas Deep Crimson. My Dolly Week #16: My Dolls are S-P-O-I-L-E-D!
Welcome everybody! Last week I had a really good dolly week! I focused mainly on new outfits for my lovelies that I shared on my Instagram. It really helps me unwind to get somebody a new look and to combine different components of unused stock pieces. My most favorite photograph of last week is this one from Ruri. It was inspired by this lovely beret from It’s MY Caprice that really made my heart jump due to its prettiness. To give her an exuberant French style, I rediscovered Pullip Clara’s fancy dress and Myra’s light pink faux-fur cape. Her socks are the ones she arrived in and I rarely change her out of them, since they have the most perfect mauve color. Since she is on an obitsu body, her feet are a little bigger than Pullip’s type 4 body and most of my shoes unfortunately don’t fit her. I am still waiting for her new shoes and will buy a bunch of obitsu shoes in Japan, but for now she is happy in these Hello Cool Cat shoes, which are a favorite of mine. They come in a lot of different colors and are out of very nice quality!
Another new outfit came for my Pullip Chloi. It also is from It’s MY Caprice and not only do I love all the beads, sequins and beautiful turquoise fabric, its name Ariel only managed to draw me in further. I mentioned how much I am looking forward to going back to Tokyo Disney Sea and my favorite spot there is the Mermaid Lagoon at night! Together with her fitting flower crown, she perfectly embodies the warmer seasons for me. Wouldn’t Summer also be a beautiful name for her? Review: Pullip Outfit Selection Little Lenie Antique Skull Dress
Before we start, let’s welcome Carlie, my Pullip Bloody Red Hood, who will be our model for today! The whole outfit compliments her wig, eyechips and face-up so nicely. I higly recomment to check it out for your BRH!
This Outfit Selection-set was officially released by Groove Inc. in 2016. You could either buy it separately on its own or in a set with a My Select Pullip Merl, who only comes wrapped in a pink towel and no other original stock. I only got the Little Lenie set because I might want to get Merl with her amazing original stock in the future. Continue reading Review: Pullip Outfit Selection Little Lenie Antique Skull Dress
Review: Pullip Le Petit Prince The Fox
Pullip The Fox is one of two Pullips that were released as part of the Le Petit Prince series, which also included an Isul as The Little Prince himself. Last week I reviewed The Rose and this week’s review features the incredibly cute Fox, who will hopefully melt your heart just like mine. In the story of Le Petit Prince the chapter with The Fox is the most famous and contains the tale’s most quoted lines.
The quote says, ‘It is only with the heart that one can see rightly, what is essential is invisible to the eye.’
Like the rest of the series, The Fox was released in early 2016 and was rarely distributed to foreign sellers. She is still however available in Japan, where the dolls are supposed to have been a regular release. Isul The Little Prince is the only sold out doll at the moment. All dolls were a collaboration with Japanese lolita clothing brand Alice and the Pirates. By the time of release, you could also buy the same outfit in their stores to match your doll’s. Review: Pullip Le Petit Prince The Rose
Pullip The Rose from the Le Petit Prince series is a release that came out early last year in collaboration with lolita fashion label Alice and the Pirates. There is also an Isul as The Little Prince and Pullip The Fox released from this series. The Fox will get her own review in the upcoming week. I absolutely love those two Pullips and this is also the reason, why I wanted to have them in my header picture. Only a limited stock of those dolls was on sale overseas, but since The Rose and The Fox are still readily available on Mandarake it seems to be true that they were a regular release in Japan (I also tried to look for Isul, but he is sold out). Le Petit Prince is a famous tale from French writer and adventurer Antoine de Saint-Exupéry. I have already encountered it twice in my life. The first time in elementary school, when my teacher lent me the story on cassette tape and the second time in high school, when we had to read it in French class. Of course those dolls were at the peak of my interest, when I learned of their existence. It is widely believed that the Rose in de Saint-Exupéry’s story is inspired from his wife and muse Consuelo, who he had a turbulent relationship with. Lots of love, betrayal, disappointment and passion!
Why I love Pullips and you might too!
It should be no secret anymore that I love Pullip dolls. I love collecting, styling and taking pictures of them. I love to read about other people’s collections online and do research on past and future releases. There are so many reasons, why I love Pullips and I wanted to write an introductory post about my interest, since I have not done that until now. Please enjoy my reasons for loving Pullips and let me know, if you agree or disagree with me in the comments!
1. Pullips mean staying true to myself!
Dolls have always been one of my favorite things. My interest in Barbie dolls never vanished completely, even though they were stored away in my parents’ basement. I still did my research on Collector Barbies from time to time, but never had the courage to spend my allowance on them. When I moved out and discovered the first series of Monster High dolls a few years later, I was so happy to finally collect dolls. Still, after some time the themes kind of got repetetive, I was (and still am) content with the collection I have and I wanted something that felt of higher quality. My first Pullip encounter was on the Japanese Amazon site, while I was browsing toys. It was Pullip Classical Alice that looked so pretty in the thumbnail that she immediately wandered on-to my wishlist. She stayed there for many years because I could not justify spending so much on a doll, not being sure, if I would stick to the hobby, since I had already given up on Barbie and Monster High dolls. In 2014 Groove Inc. started their collaboration with Sailor Moon and so they never fell off my radar. Last year I decided to finally be true to myself in every aspect of my life. Yes, I love to collect things that are probably out of the norm for most people my age in my culture, but I don’t care anymore. My first Pullip was Alice du Jardin Mint Ver. and I could not have been happier. Since then I have embraced honestly liking, what I feel is fun and beautiful! Review: Pullip Creator’s Label Seila
Pullip Seila was one of those dolls that I thought I would never own. She has been sold-out for quite some time as of this writing and there are still a ton of collectors, who are looking for her, out there. Nearly two months ago I was refreshing Mandarake and Seila suddenly showed up at the very top of the Pullip listings. I clicked that order button in a complete daze and was fast enough to get her. She was a major find for me and I am still not over the endorphins from this particular Saturday!
Seila was originally released in 2012 as part of Groove Inc.’s Creator’s Label. Her face up was created by mitsubachi@BabyBee, who has worked a lot with Groove since then (I already reviewed Pullip My Melody HEN-NAKO Ver. and Pullip Galene) and HIROKO/Daisy-D was the mastermind behind her clothes. For me Seila is the perfect gothic lolita from head to toe. Everything about her is of such high quality that there is no reason to question anymore, why this doll is so widely loved in the Pullip community.
